Google Reader continues to amaze me

A while back I wrote a post praising Google Reader, the new RSS reader from Google Labs. Tonight I delved a bit deeper and found a neat feature I hadn't noticed before: sharing items. If you find an interesting item in your feeds you can mark it to be shared for others to see. You can give your friends the URL for your shared items and they can read the stories that interest you at their leisure. Google even makes a feed for your shared feeds. This is an awesome application, folks.

In case anyone might be interested, my shared items can be found here. I love stuff like this. Aside from all the "Web 2.0" hype, the great thing about it is the idea of sharing information with your friends. RSS is a great technology and I can't wait to see more neat things done with it. I use it to keep track of when Annalisa's Dad updates Pater Familias, to automatically download my favorite podcasts, and to keep track of news and blog updates. And, of course, the aforementioned sharing of stories found on Digg and Google Reader.
